The Nova was launched several months after its identical twin, the Opel Corsa, due to an industrial dispute over its production at the Zaragoza plant in Spain.  However, when it was finally launched on to the British market in May 1983, it was an instant success.

The blistered arches, so reminiscent of an Audi Quattro’s, were a very avant-garde styling feature when compared to its market rivals and helped to differentiate the Nova.  The 1.3SR, modelled here, featured stiffer suspension, alloy wheels, sports seats and a new 1.3-litre OHC engine, making it a quick, attractive, and economical proposition when launched at just £4,975
