When Alfa was founded in 1910, the emblem was marked by the Milan city coat of arms with the additional letters “ALFA MILANO”. In 1919 it was changed to ALFA-ROMEO MILANO. Until the end of the Second World War in 1945, the blazonry from the Savoys in the form of two fisher knots embellished the logo. After achieving the first World Championship title in 1925, a laurel wreath, due to the pride of Alfa-Romeo, was put around the logo. After the Second World War, the two, from time to time also three Savoy knots (one knot replaced the city’s name) disappeared from the emblem. Until 1972 the city’s name was on the logo and Alfa Romeo was written with hyphen. Then the labelling Milano was dismissed, because Alfa Romeo, from then on, also produced cars outside of Milan, for example in Pomigliano d'Arco, which is close to Naples in the south of Italy.
